We lucked out with our trek group. There were four Engish, two Dutch and three from Santa Cruz/SF. Our guide book says that most treks are similar, but the group can make or break the trek. Great attitudes and fun people made our trek a wonderful experience.
Mike, you are lucky you were drinking with a bunch of English guys and not Irish, otherwise you might still be in that shack.
