Money changers
Since we thought we would end up back in Thailand, we still had a little Thai Baht (currency) and needed to exchange it. We wouldn't bother to blog such a simple errand, but it was a good time to point out an example of the black market here in Vietnam. Check out the two women (coincidentally in black) behind me. They stand off to the side and offer to change your money for a slightly better rate than what the bank offers. Seems good on paper, until you get fake bills or the wrong amount back in the transaction. It's illegal, but there is no enforcement. We were offered a good rate, but declined. Another (potential) scam avoided.
