On our first night in Hanoi, we didn't have to venture out too far from our guesthouse to find a great (recommended) little spot that served a "cook your own beef" style dinner. Beef and vegetables (and plenty of garlic) on a little bbq with a dipping sauce of salt, pepper, chilies and lime. Simple and great.
