We have officially decided to extend the trip. We plan to be in Vietnam through Christmas and then continue north into China. Our return flight is scheduled for January 13th out of Beijing. A couple weeks is hardly enough time to see all that China has to offer, but we are excited to see what we can.
As we did not originally plan to go to China, we now have a few logistics to figure out. We will need to arrange for visas, which we will deal with in Hanoi. We are also ill-equipped for the weather. For example, Mike will need to buy pants as it is currently below freezing in Beijing.
